Following a fire that displaced thousands of people in Korail, student and nonprofit teams mobilised donations, clothing and essential supplies.

The project

The campaign combined clothing collection, public fundraising and field distribution. Student volunteers received gently used clothing through Notre Dame College, Adamjee Cantonment College and Bangladesh International School & College, Nirjhor; people unable to reach a collection point could contact the team to find a nearby volunteer.

Financial contributions were collected alongside clothing so the response could cover essential items needed on the ground. The coordinated project was completed in early December 2025 with Girl Up Horit, GU Crimson, LEAF and Tong Foundation.

The source material reports that the wider Korail fire displaced more than 6,000 people. That figure explains the scale of the emergency and is not presented as the number directly reached by Hashi Ekshathe.
